Mullins, Richardson to represent NECC at NJCAA National Championships

Haverhill, MA (May 3rd 2018) – The Northern Essex Community College women's track and field team will be represented by two athletes at next week's NJCAA National Championships that are being hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY from May 10-12.

Olivia Mullins (Plistow, NH) and Katelyn Richardson (Wilmington, MA) will compete in the 1500 meters and high jump respectively. Mullins qualified with her time of 5:38.46 which she ran on March 30th at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational. Richardson hit the mark for the high jump on April 21st at the Eric Loeschner Memorial Invitational at Fitchburg State when she cleared 1.42 meters.

Mullins is scheduled to compete in the preliminary heat of the 1500 on Friday at 3:00pm. The 1500 final is scheduled for Saturday at 12:50pm. The women's high jump will be contested on Saturday beginning at 12:30pm.

The top two finishers in each event will earn NJCAA All-American accolades while the top six finishers will receive medal recognition and top eight finishers will score points in the overall team standings.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors eight varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
