Knights take down SMCC in non-regional contest

Haverhill, MA (April 10, 2018) – The Northern Essex Community College baseball team continued its winning ways as they downed Southern Maine Community College by a score of 9-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Ryan Sharkey (Salisbury, MA) got the win on the mound for the Knights as he pitched seven innings allowing six hits and one unearned run. He also struck out four batters and issued two walks.Justin Kerhulas (North Reading, MA) went the final two innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit and six walks while striking out three.
 
Offensively, the Knights delivered 12 hits and stole six bases as they won their fifth in a row. Riley Magee (Windham, NH), Leo Romero (Lawrence, MA) and Andrew Caulfield (Malden, MA) each delivered multi-hit games. Ryan Collins (Peobody, MA) recorded the lone extra base hit with a leadoff double as part of the Knights four run seventh inning.

The Knights are scheduled to play their first home on campus game of the season Thursday against Bunker Hill Community College with first pitch scheduled for 3:30pm.
