Knights drops non-divisional pair to Avery Point

Haverhill, MA (April 22, 2018) -  Despite out hitting the University of Connecticut Avery Point in both games of Sunday's double-header the Northern Essex Community College baseball team dropped both on Sunday by scores of 10-8 and 13-7.

Game 1:

The Knights lost the lead late in game as UConn plated 10 runs over its final two at-bats. Richard Reidy (Amesbury, MA) started on the mound and went four and two-third innings allowing four runs on three hits and six walks.

Leo Romero (Lawrence, MA) was one of four Knights to record multiple hits as he drove in three runs including a two RBI first inning single that scored Ben Irvine (Peobody, MA) and Ryan Collins (Peabody, MA).

Irvine, Riley Magee (Windham, NH) and Spencer Balian (Lynnfield, MA) also each recorded multiple hits in game one.

Game 2:

Magee continued his hot streak at the plate as he was the lone batter in the lineup to record multiple hits in both games. Nolan Steevens (Wilton, NH) also recorded multiple hits in game two.

Collins got the Knights on the board first as his first inning single scored Irvine who led the game off with a double. Kyle Hawes (Lynnfield, MA) also recorded an RBI single in the first inning as part of a four run first inning.

Sebastian Pereyra (Lawrence, MA) belted his first home run of the season to left field in the fourth inning.

Justin Kerhulas (North Reading, MA) went two innings to start game two and allowed six runs on three hits and four base on balls while striking out one.

Up Next:

The Knights return to divisional play on Thursday as they host Massasoit to open a stretch of five divisional contests to wrap up the divisional schedule. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 on the Haverhill campus.
