Second half surge pushed Northern Essex past Roxbury

Haverhill, MA (January 30, 2018) – The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team used a strong surge midway through the second half to pull away from Roxbury Community College by a final score of 82-67. The win improves the Knights record to 11-9 on the season and concludes a three game homestand.  

Three Knights scored in double figures, led by Guney Kilitcioglu (Istanbul, Turkey) who scored a game high 23 points, he was followed offensively by Alexis Estrella (Lawrence, MA) who tossed in 18 points and DJ Greenhalgh (Dracut, MA) who scored 15. Greenhalgh added 11 rebounds for a double-double effort. Estrella also contributed eight rebounds.

Ermir Alagoz (Istanbul, Turkey) added a nine assists for the Knights.

Roxbury was led offensively by Lawrence Chery who scored 18 points.

The Knights will hit the road for two consecutive games starting Thursday when they travel to MassBay Community College for 7:00pm start.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors eight varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
