Knights fall in MCCAC Semi-Finals

Springfield, MA (February 24, 2018) – The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball fell in the semi-final round of the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference Tournament today to top seeded Bristol by a score of 89-63.

Alexis Estrella (Lawrence, MA) put forth the strongest overall performance for the Knights as he scored nine points, grabbed 10 rebounds and added 3 steals on the defensive end of the ball. For his efforts he earned a nod onto the MCCAC All-Tournament team.

Three Knights were able to score in double figures offensively led by Guney Kiliticglu (Istanbul, Turkey) who scored 14, his fellow countryman Emir Alagoz (Istanbul, Turkey) added 13 while Kyle Martin (Amesbury, MA) tossed in 10.

Bristol's Alexander Holloway was the games high scorer as tossed in 20 points.

Despite the loss, Northern Essex has earned the four seed in the Region XXI Tournament and will play host to MassBay on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm in the first round of the regional tournament.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors eight varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
