Haverhill, MA (September 18, 2019) – Freshman Anthony Bellomo (Salem, NH) of the Northern Essex Community College men's soccer team has been named the NJCAA National Goalie of the Week for September 9th through 15th.
Over the course of two games Bellomo recorded a tie and win, the latter of which was his first and the team's first won and shutout of the season. The soccer team has returned to NECC in 2019 for the first time since the mid 1990's
In 200 minutes of action, Bellomo recorded 21 saves and allowed just one goal in a 1-1 double overtime draw against Community College of Rhode Island. He recorded 10 saves in the match. On Sunday, he and the Knights had a clean sheet against Central Maine Community College recording a 2-0 win and recording 11 saves.
Currently the Knights sit at 1-3-1 on the season with the Region 21 league opener scheduled for tomorrow at Quinsigamond Community College beginning at 4:00pm.
