Cross Country competes at WNE Invitational

Haverhill, MA (October 13, 2018) – The Northern Essex Community College cross country teams competed on Saturday in Springfield at the Western New England University Invitational. The women competed at the 6,000 meter distance while the men ran 8,000 meters.

On the women's side Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) was first across the line for the Knights completed the course in a time of 26:31 to place 55th in a field that featured 122 runners primarily from the NCAA Division III level. Katelyn Richardson (Wilmington, MA) placed 86th in a time 28:28.

On the men's side, the Knights finished 13th as a team as the only scoring junior college team competing in the meet. In a field that featured 134 runners, Logan Foster (Atkinson, NH) finished 46thin a time 29:28. Emil Rosario (Methuen, MA) finished 89th in a time of 33:08. Will Thomson (Beverly, MA) and Jacob Navabi (Haverhill, MA) also finished among the top 100 with time of 34:07 and 34:37 respectively.

The Knights will return to the trails next Saturday October 20th when they compete in the Junior College Northeast Championship hosted by Community College on Rhode Island.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors nine varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, golf, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
