Knights wrap up season at National Championship

Haverhill, MA (November 3, 2018) - The Northern Essex Community College men's and women's cross country teams concluded their 2018 seasons at the NJCAA National Championships at Stanely park in Westfield, MA hosted by Holyoke Community College.

The men's team placed 22nd overall in a race that featured 23 scoring teams and representation from 39 teams throughout the nation. Logan Foster (Atkinson, NH) led the men's teams as he placed 47th overall in the 8,000 meter race that featured 176 runners in a time 29:38. Emil Rosario (Methuen, MA) was second across the line for the Knights in a time of 32:40 and finished 110 in the race.

Willie Thompson (Beverly, MA) 34:13, Jacob Navabi (Haverhill, MA) 34:57, Andy Barrientos (Lawrence, MA)  rounded out the scoring competitors for the Knights.

On the women's side Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) ​placed 46th overall in a time of 22:51 over 5,000 meters and she and Katelyn Richardson (Wilmington, MA) represented NECC as individual competitors in the national championship. Richardson covered the course in 23:52 to place 60th in the field of 125 runners. For Mullins it marks a six spot improvement from her 52nd place finish at the 2017 championship.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors nine varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, golf, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
