Knights rally past Massasoit, 5-4

Haverhill, MA (May 2, 2018) – After falling behind early 2-0, the Northern Essex Community College baseball rallied past Massasoit 5-4 in a crucial Region XXI contest. In the process the Knights reached to 20 win plateau.

In the bottom of the seventh inning with one out Alex Almonte (Lawrence, MA) was hit by a pitch which led to the game winning run. One batter later Almonte scored from first when Riley Magee (Windham, NH) ripped a double to the gap in right center.

For the game, the Knights had seven hits, Spencer Balian (Lynnfield, MA) was the lone batter in the lineup with multiple hits. Almonte and Leo Romero (Lawrence, MA) also recorded RBUI's in the game.

On the mound Corey Imbriano (Wakefield, MA) went 6.1 innings, four runs on six hits while striking out five. None of the runs wer earned as the Knights committed four errors defensively. Michael Goodin (Dracut, MA) came on in relief and went the 2.2 innings to pick up the win for the Knights.

Up Next:

The Knights will conclude their three game series with Massasoit in Brockton on Friday with a double header scheduled to start at 2:00pm. One win on Friday would give NECC the top seed in the upcoming Region XXI tournament being played in Haverhill May 11-13.
