Alexis Estrella jumper with 1.2 seconds remaining sends Knights past BFIT

Haverhill, MA (January 16, 2018) – Freshman Alexis Estrella (Lawrence, MA) game winning jump shot with 1.2 seconds remaining sent the Northern Essex Community College men's basketball home with a 68-66 win on the road Tuesday afternoon against Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology to open the second half of the season.

The game winning basket was part of a six point and six assist afternoon for Estrella. Emir Alagoz (Istanbul, Turkey) and Guney  Kilitcioglu (Istanbul, Turkey) were the high scorers for the Knights as each contributed 16 points. DJ Greenhalgh (Dracut, MA) had a team high 10 rebounds to along with eight points.

Northern Essex will return to the court on Thursday evening when they open up the home portion of the second semester with a 6:00pm scheduled tip off against Quincy College.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors eight varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
