NECC ACADEMIC COACHING PROGRAM

ACADEMIC COACHING SERVICES FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES

The Northern Essex Athletic Department is committed to providing the most efficient and effective support for all student-athletes. The success the Knights enjoy on the field, court, track, or course is not nearly as important as the achievements of the individual student-athletes in the classroom. The Academic Coaching Center has worked with the Athletic Department to sponsor mandatory appointments for the athletes. They offer sessions, five days each week throughout the year. The most critical period for students is in their first semester, so these appointments help student-athletes get into the routine of attending classes, practicing, and studying.

The Academic Coaching Department offers support services which include accessing resources, organized study sessions, time management, study skills instruction, and strategies for college success.

NECC SUPPORT PROGRAM INCLUDE:

Academic Monitoring: The Athletic Administrator will request progress reports from instructors regarding class attendance and performance for each athletic scholar. Academic Alerts for student-athletes are sent to the Athletic Director and forwarded to the Head Coach and Academic Coach.

Mentoring: The athletic staff and academic coaching staff will meet with student-athletes, individually and in groups, regarding academic, athletic and personal issues.

Notifications: Each semester the student-athlete or Athletic Administration will communicate with instructors notifying them of their travel/competitive schedule.
