Haverhill, MA (April 21, 2024) – Sophomore Jayden Voelker (Coventry, RI) of the Northern Essex Community College baseball team picked up his second consecutive NJCAA Pitcher of the Week award for his efforts on Saturday in the Knights 4-0 win over Community College of Rhode Island.

Voelker becomes the first Knight to repeat as an NJCAA Athlete of the Week since Todd Tringale earned the honors on April 4 and April 11 back in 2021.

Against CCRI, Voelker faced 24 batters in seven innings of work striking out a career high 19 batters, while allowing just one hit and issue two base on balls.

For the season Voelker currently leads the nation in strikeouts per nine innings at 20.54 while ranking fourth in earned run average at 1.76 and hasn't allowed a run in his last four starts.

He is scheduled to next take the mound on Saturday in game one of a double header at Quinisgamond. First pitch is schedule for 12:00pm in Worcester.
