Mejia gets 200th win as Knights roll past Fisher

Lynn, MA (March 21, 2022) – The Northern Essex Community College baseball team cruised to a non-conference win on Monday night over Fisher College. In the process the Knights improved to 10-2 on the season and gave head coach Jeff Mejia the 200th win of his coaching career, all at NECC.

  • Head Coach Jeff Mejia ran is career record to 200-109 (.647) with the win.
  • Jagger Iovinelli (Huntington Beach, CA) went four plus innings and was near perfect as he struck out eight, allowing one run on one hit and didn't issue a walk. Eric Whitehead (North Andover) closed the door retiring three straight batters when he entered in the fifth.
  • The Knights scored at least one running in every inning including a seven run fourth inning.
  • Richie Williams (Georgetown) led the offense as he recorded three extra base this to account for five RBI's in the contest.
  • Kevin Rodriguez (Manchester, NH) and Lucas Berube (Dighton) joined Williams with multiple hits as each recorded a base hits as part of the Knights 13 hit attack.

NECC will stay on the road and continue non-conference action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to play Central Maine Community College in a double header with first [pitch scheduled for 12:00pm in Auburn, ME. The Knights will kick off the home portion of their schedule on Sunday when they host Eastern Connecticut State (JV) at Trinity Stadium.
