Knights stay hot in Overwatch action

Haverhill, MA (October 19, 2020) – The Northern Essex Community College esports team had another successful week, picking up two more victories in Overwatch.

The Knights moved to 4-0 on the season in the Challengers Division of the New England Collegiate Conference with a 3-0 win over Hood College (MD). Kirmy Ramos (Kirmy) of Lawrence was the Player of the Game as he helped lead the win as the Knights picked up map wins in Watchpoint: Gibraltar 3-0, Numbani 3-1, Busan 2-0.

Northern Essex will return to NECC action this week on Wednesday when they take on Howard (MD) Community College at 6:00pm in the NECC's Streamed Match of the Week.

In NJCAA action, the gaming Knights picked up a 3-1 victory over Westchester (NY) Community College. Caroline Shaw (sgkcarol) of Merrimac picked up the Player of the Game of the game honors for NECC in the win. Northern Essex dropped the opening map, Lijiang Tower 2-0, before running off three straight map victories for the win. Map victories were claimed in King's Row 3-1, Hanamura 3-2 and Dorado 3-2.

The Rainbow Six Siege squad had a bye in the week's action while Madden was a win by forfeit.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors 12 varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's soccer, Esports and men's and women's track and field.
