NECC Golf off to solid start

Haverhill, MA (April 24, 2019) – After a 19 year hiatus the Northern Essex Community College golf team has returned to the course. Having played in two 18-hole tournaments at the par 71 Chicopee Country Club the team is off to strong start.

April 16th-

Anthony Calvani (Amesbury) shot the low round for the day as he fired an 80 (+9) in blustery conditions in a field that also saw competitors from Holyoke and Bristol Community College.

Jon Fiers (Salisbury) and Brandon Mullarkey (Reading) also competed in the opening tournament for the Knights and carded scored of 85 and 88 respectively.

April 23rd-

Back at Chicopee, Mullarkey matched Calvani's low score from the previous match as he fired 80 on Tuesday.

Calvani came back with 83 in the second match, while Fiers fires and identical 85.

Holyoke's Kyle Richter fired the low round with a 78 (+7)

The Knights will return to the course next Tuesday April 30th at the Wayland Country Club and will host their lone home match of the season on Wednesday May 1st at the Atkinson Country Club and Resort in Atkinson, NH.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors nine varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, golf, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
