Haverhill, MA (January 27, 2022) - The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games on Thursday evening as they produced a balanced offensive attack and lock down defense.

The last time the Knights recorded six wins in a row was in the 2008-09 season and the 47 points allowed is the lowest point total allowed in 15 seasons. NECC took a 34-23 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Nine of the 10 Knights who saw the floor in the game recorded at least two points led by Daniel Almarante (Lawrence) who tossed in a game high 16 and paced four Knights in double figures. Mehmet Asik (Ankara, TR) followed with 13. Metin Yavuz (Istanbul, TR) and Matt D'Amato (Peabody) each recorded 10 points off the bench to join.

With the win, NECC improved to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in Region 21 play. Weather permitting NECC is scheduled to conclude a four game home stand on Saturday afternoon against Bristol. with a 12:00pm tip.
