Knights roll over Central Maine to cap off two-win weekend

Concord, NH (November 5, 2022) – The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team led by as many of 26 points in the second half as they rolled past Central Maine Community College by a final score of 78-63 to complete the weekend sweep and improve to 2-0. The pair of wins marks the first time the Knights have swept their games at the NHTI tournament since the start of the 2013-14 season.

NECC jumped out to big lead early and took a 46-28 advantage to the locker room at halftime with the help of 7-11 shooting from beyond the three point arc in the opening half. For the games the Knights shot 49.2% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc.

For the second straight game Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) led the team in scoring with 16 points. He was joined in double figures by Christian Kinsley (Lawrence) who tossed in 12 points off the bench.

Metin Yavuz (Istanbul, TK) contributed a strong all-around game as he contributed eight points to go along with two steals, six rebounds and two blocked shots. Reynoso led the team with seven rebounds and contributed two steals of his own.

The Lawrence duo of Kinsley and Reynoso were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Knights will stay on the road as they open up Region 21 play on Tuesday evening at 6:00pm when they travel to Boston to take on Bunker Hill Community College.
