Knights win fifth straight to sweep NECC/TD Bank Turkey Classic

Haverhill, MA (November 27, 2022) – The #14 nationally ranked Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team picked up their fifth straight win on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 82-64 over the Sharks of Suffolk County (NY) Community College. With the win, NECC improves to 9-1 on the season and turned the tables on SCCC who handed the Knights their lone defeat of the season back on November 12th.

NECC won the opening tip and immediately jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never trailed for the games 40 minutes as they took a 41-32 lead to the locker room at halftime. The Knights outscored the visitors in the second half by the same score to result in the game's final score.

Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) led the NECC offense for the second consecutive game as he dropped a game high 22 points to go along with 14 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.

Tre Fite (Washington, OH) joined Reynoso in double figures as he tossed in 10 points as a total of 11 different Knights found the scoresheet.

Making his second start of the season Kevin Monteiro (Somerville) narrowly missed a double-double of his own as he contributed nine points to go along with 11 rebounds.

Reynoso and Monteiro were selected to the All-Tournament at the conclusion of Sunday's game.

The Knights will return to conference action on Tuesday as they conclude a five-game home stand when they play host to the Bayhawks of Bristol Community College. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm with a pre-game "Fan Fest" set to get underway at 5:00pm sponsored by the Office of Student Life.
