Kinsley three pushes Knights past Massasoit on the road

Brockton, MA (December 6, 2022) – After opening up a 12-point halftime lead, a Cristian Kinsley (Lawrence) three-point basket from the right corner in the games final minute was the difference as the Northern Essex Community College men's basketball picked up a 73-69 road victory over Massasoit Community College. With the win, NECC improved to 13-1 on the season and 8-0 in Region 21 conference action.

Taking a 49-37 lead into the locker room at halftime, NECC popped in a couple of quick baskets in the opening minutes of the second half and then went cold for a near six-minute stretch in which they only scored a pair of free throws. The stretch allowed the Warriors back into the game and take a late lead before the Kinsley three.

Kinsley was the Knights leading scorer for the game with 19 points. Mehmet Asik (Istanbul, TR) also recorded double figures as he had 12 points to go with 10 rebounds for a double-double.

NEC's leading scorer on the season Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) found himself in early foul trouble and was held to a season low seven points in limited minutes. Edwin SamMbaka (Paris, FR) continued his strong defensive play and helped seal the win in the game's final moments.

NECC returns home on Thursday evening at 6:00 for a battle of nationally ranked conference unbeatens when they host Roxbury Community College with first place on the line.
