Holyoke, MA (January 17, 2023) – The newly minted fifth ranked Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team continued to roll along Tuesday evening as they picked up their 13th consecutive win over Holyoke Community College by a final score of 107-37. The 70-point margin of victory is believed to be the largest margin of victory in program history.
The game was never in questions as NECC jumped out quickly as never trailed as they took a 65- 27 lead into the locker room at halftime. With the win, the Knights improve to 17-1 overall and 12-0 in conference action.
Jeremiah Melendez (Lawrence) and Luke O'Donnell (Hamilton) were the game's high scorers as they dropped 17 points apiece. For Melendez as of his points came in the first half. Mehmet Asik (Ankara, Turkey) added 14 points while Jonathan Lingisi (Hamilton, Ontario) added 11 points while making his debut in the Knights uniform.
Twelve different players recorded at least three points or more in the victory,
NECC will stay on the road for the remainder of the week as they will travel to Eastern Nazarene for an exhibition game on Thursday evening before jumping back into conference play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Bristol Community College in Taunton for a 2:00pm tip-off with the Bayhawks.
