Cross Country opens 2018 campiagn at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

 

Haverhill, MA (September 16, 2018) – The Northern Essex Community College men's and women's cross country teams kicked off their 2018 season over the weekend at the 46th annual UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. For the first time in the programs history the men's program featured a full scoring team.

 

The men as a team finished in 16th place in the sub-varsity race and were led by Logan Foster (Atkinson, NH) who completed the five mile course in 30:47. Jacob Navabi (Haverhill, MA) and Emil Rosario (Methuen, MA) were the next two finishers for the Knights with times of 35:08 and 35:38 respectively.

 

On the women's side, competing in the varsity race Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) led the women by completing the 5,000 meter course in a time of 24:12. Katelyn Richardson (Wilmington, MA) 25:02 and Kairey Fuentes (Salem, NH) also represented the women's team in the race.

 

The Knights will return to the course on Saturday September 22nd at Gordon College as they compete at the annual Pop Crowell Invitational.

 

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors nine varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, golf, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
