Track opens season at SNHU Spring Invitational

Manchester, NH (April 2, 2022) - The Northern Essex Community College men's and women's track and field program made their return to the track over the weekend for first time following the COVID pandemic. It was the Knights first competition since the 2019 National Championship meet.

One the women's side, Catherine Schwartz (Groveland) recorded a fourth place finish in the 100 meter dash and narrowly missed an NJCAA national qualifying mark with a time of 13.87 seconds. She would also record a fourth place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 30.16.

For the men, Jacob Klembowski (Haverhill) finished 11th in 100 with a time of 12.82. He was followed by Francisco Laracuente (Amesbury) who clocked a time of 13.82. Klembowski would come back and record a time of 26.29 in the 200 and leap 11.34 meters in the triple jump.

Josh Leaffer (North Andover) ran a time of 21:16 in the 5000 meters and Laracuente concluded competition on the day with a time 69.18 for the 400 meter hurdles.
