Purpose
The purpose of the Northern Essex Community College Athletic Hall of Fame is to give lasting recognition to those individuals and teams who have made exceptional contributions to the achievements and prestige of NECC in the field of athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by intercollegiate athletics.

The Director of Athletics shall serve as the committee chairperson.
Individual Student-Athletes, Coaches and Teams
Criteria for Nomination
Candidates must have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievement in intercollegiate athletics. Candidates must have graduated from Northern Essex and/or continued their athletic participation professionally or at a four-year institution five or more years ago while maintaining satisfactory academic standing according to the standards of the college.
Similarly, outstanding athletic teams and distinguished members of the NECC coaching staff are also eligible for selection and membership. Any coach or administrator must have retired or departed from the college at least five years prior to his or her nomination.
No automatic criteria will be utilized for nomination, and special recognition may be granted where it is deemed appropriate by the selection committee.
While athletic achievement is of prime importance, character and good citizenship will be taken into consideration. The record of the individual or athletic team must be so outstanding that there are no questions of qualifying for the Athletic Hall of Fame.
Inductees are selected by the committee, however nominations may be submitted to the Director of Athletics to present to the committee. Nominations will not be publicly disclosed.
Induction and Recognition
The college shall induct no less than one and no more than three individuals and/or teams annually. Selected members will be notified by a member of the selection committee. Members will be inducted annually at a recognition event hosted by the College. A suitable memento will be presented to the honorees and an appropriate permanent display or recognition will be established on campus.
Honorary Membership
The Selection Committee may convey honorary membership to those individuals who, by virtue of their time, resources and dedication, have significantly supported, enhanced and advanced the intercollegiate athletic programs of NECC.
Criteria for Nomination
Individuals recognized may or may not have had any direct affiliation with NECC. Their contributions may be varied: faculty athletic advisor, financial supporter of the athletic program, valued employee of the athletic department, volunteer coach or team physician among others. These contributions should be of significantly long duration (at least 10 years). The individual must not currently be active with the NECC athletic program.
Induction and Recognition
Induction and recognition of honorary inductees shall follow the same procedures as traditional Hall of Fame inductees. The number of honorary inductees will be included in the annual minimums and maximums established for Hall of Fame induction in a particular year.
