Intramurals Code of Conduct

Positive Sportsmanship: Participate with a fair, positive attitude and display good sportsmanship whether winning or losing.

Respect: Show respect for opponents, teammates, spectators, intramural staff, officials, and the school's facilities and equipment

Safety: Maintain a high level of safety awareness and care for equipment

Behavior: Refrain from offensive language, taunting, jeering, fighting, flagrant fouls, or any behavior that disrupts the positive experience for others.

Rules & Officials: Cooperate with officials, accept their decisions, and abide by the established rules of the game.

Team Responsibility: Teams are responsible for the conduct of their members and spectators before, during, and after contests.

Prohibited Actions

Offensive Content: Do not use racially motivated language, degrading comments, or any remarks promoting prejudice or intolerance.

Discrimination: Behavior that demeans based on skill, intellect, race, ethnicity, gender, or religion is prohibited.

Substances: Alcohol, drugs, and tobacco are prohibited at intramural sports sites. Participants suspected of being under the influence will be restricted or ejected.

Disruptive Behavior: Engaging in actions beyond the bounds of the rules, such as vandalism, or failing to cooperate with staff, is considered misconduct.

Ejections & Suspensions: Individuals may be removed from the game or suspended from all intramural activity.

Forfeiture: A team may forfeit a contest for violations, including failure to control its members or spectators, or cooperating with staff regarding rule violations.

Disciplinary Action: Violators may be subject to progressive discipline according to the campus student code of conduct.

Intramural FAQs:

Who can play for Intramurals? Currently enrolled students’ faculty and staff. No campus guests are permitted to play.

How do I sign up to play? Sign up for any sport using your NECC credentials through the Link above.

Do I need to be on a team to play? Sign up as a team or as a "free agent" and be placed on a team. If you would like to be added to a specific team, please say so in "notes" section.

How many sports are offered each year? Intramural activities are offered on semester basis.

How often are the games? For 2025 Fall each sport will be played over three weeks.

Where are the games played? Activities will take place around the Fitness Center. Please report to the fitness center 15 minutes prior for check in.

Can my team win anything? The winning team receives a champions t-shirt at the conclusion of each season.

Is there a cost to participate? Intramural sports and most pop-up tournaments are free. Campus Rec may periodically run charity fundraising events which may require a charity donation for entry.
