
Haverhill, MA (March 10, 2025) – Two members of the Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team in freshman Rhaelyn Gutierrez (Methuen) and sophomore Mirelys Morales (Dracut) have been selected to the Region 21 All Region teams as voted by the coaches.
Gutierrez was named to the first team, while Morales picked up all region honors for the second consecutive season and landed on the second team.
Gutierrez, who left quite a mark in her rookie campaign finished the season ranked second nationally in scoring at 27.9 points per game and finished the season by scoring 619 points. She scored 40 or more points in four games this season including a season high 47 points on December 3rd in a win over NHTI. Her free throw percentage of 77.5%, going 100 for 129 at the line was good for 8th nationally.
Morales, the workhorse averaged a double double on the season with 18.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game ranking second on the team in both categories. She scored 20 or more points on 10 occasions this season and finished her career with a season high 29 points in the Knights regional semi-final loss to CCRI. She grabbed a season high 20 rebounds against NHTI and had 18 rebounds on two separate occasions.
As a team, the Knights advanced to the Region 21 tournament for the second consecutive season before falling to nationally ranked CCRI in the semi-finals.
