
Haverhill, MA (May 7, 2025) – The Northern Essex Community College track and field program will send 13 individuals to this week's national meet to represent the program in 12 individual events and a pair of relays.
Maci Abbatessa (Danvers) who qualified in all three weight events will lead the contingent at the three day meet which is scheduled to start on Thursday afternoon at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. She earned the Knights highest seed, as she is ranked third in the shot put on the performance list with a mark of 10.85 meters. She is also ranked ninth in the discus throw (30.22m) and 11th in the hammer throw (28.66m)
Also representing the women's program at the meet will be Janelis Uviedo (Nashua, NH) in the triple jump and 200 meters as she is seeded ninth and 16th respectively in her two events.
Estephany Lizardo (Lawrence) is seeded ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase, while Juliet Sellers (Andover) is seeded 11th in the 800 meter run.
On the men's side, both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams will compete along with four competing in individual events.
Edwin SamMbaka (Paris, FR) is seeded 30th in the 200 meter dash, while Cristian Moscat (Lawrence) is seeded 14th in the 800 meter run.
In the field events, Derick PierrePaul (Lawrence) is seeded 11th in the high jump, while Karl Wolfgang (Douala, CM) is seeded 14th in the shot put.
Back on the track, the 4x100 is seeded 16th, while the 4x400 is seeded 15th. Expected to compete in the 4x100 are SamMbaka, Moscat, Adriel RosaSanchez (Haverhill) and Victor Metiver (Lawrence). In the 4x400 will be Moscat, Metiver, RosaSanchez and Lemuel DelValle (Lawrence).
The top eight finishers in each event will score points for the team standings, while the top three in each event will be named NJCAA All-Americans.
Abbatessa will get the action stated in the hammer throw at 1:00pm on Thursday with the 4x100 relay trials set for 4:55pm. Live results and additional event information can be found by clicking here.
