Utica, NY (May 11, 2025) - The Northern Essex Community College track and field teams wrapped up the season over the weekend at the NJCAA National with solid performances and personal bests.

The women's team finished 20th in the final teams standings with 8 points. The men didn't score.

Maci Abbatessa (Danvers) picked up a fourth place finish on Friday in the shot put with a best throw of 9.80 meters in pouring rain conditions to score five points in the team results. She followed up the shot put performance with a ninth place finish in the discus on Saturday.

Derek PierrePaul (Lawrence) finished in a four way tie for 9th place with by clearing 1.73 meters in his first attempt.

Estephany Lizardo (Lawrence) placed 9th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 16:33.

The men's 4x400 relay team finished 10th with a time on the 3:44.95 with a team of Cristian Moscat (Lawrence), Adriel RosaSanchez (Haverhill), Lemuel DelValle Lawrence) and Victor Metiver (Lawrence)

Edwin SamMbaka (Paris, FR) placed 26th in the 200 meters preliminary round with a time of 23.7.

The Knights had a total of 13 athletes participating in the meet, their largest contingent competing in the national meet in more than 10 years
