Knights take down Fisher in mid-week battle

Lynn, MA (March 31, 2021) – On Wednesday night the Northern Essex Community College baseball team picked up their third straight win over Fisher and have now won six of their last seven to improve to 9-6 on the season.

Trailing one 1-0 after the second, the Knights tied the game in the fourth before take the lead for good in the sixth. To tie the game Joe Muzio (Rockport) got on with a two out walk and would score after stealing second and would score when Clay Campbell (Hooksett, NH) reached via an error.

In the sixth, Campbell drove in a run as ripped a one out double to right that saw Chris Presinal (Sudbury) score after leading off with a single. Muzio would end up on third after reaching with a walk. Hunter Wilishocski (Hamilton) followed with a single to right that drove in both Campbell and Muzio. Wilichoski scored to account for the four run inning on a double from Nick White (Townsend).

The Knights would add a single run in the seventh before adding three more in the eighth on Logan Burrill's (Amesbury) team leading sixth home run of the season. With Jared Coppola (Lynn) and Presinal on base via a single and walk, Burrill crushed a ball over the tractor trailer beyond the left field fence.

On the mound, Ronnie Luke (Malden) started and went three innings allowing one run on one hit and striking out four and walking a pair. Dallas Vaughan (Haverhill) followed by going three innings and fanning five, not allowing a hit and walking one. Tristan Ciamp (Wilmington) and Aiden Abernathy (Methuen) each pitched an inning before Jack Swarbrick (Haverhill) recorded the final three outs to secure the win for the Knights.

Northern Essex is set to return to the field on Saturday when they travel to play the UConn-Avery Point on Saturday at Washington Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm.
