Knights sweep Bunker Hill to open up Region 21 play

Haverhill, MA (March 28, 2025) – The Northern Essex Community College baseball team ran their win streak to eight games on Friday with a conference opening double header sweep of Bunker Hill by scores of 19-3 and 15-2. The Knights improve to 12-7 overall.

In game one Jake Kelleher (Haverhill) went the distance as he struck out 10 while walking just one and allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits. He got plenty of support from the Knights bats as they pounded out 19 game one hits and plated nine runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Jaren Megan (Fairhaven) led the offense in game one as he had a game high four hits, all of the extra base variety with three doubles and a home run, to go along with four RBIs and four runs scored.

Five other Knights recorded a multi-hit game one led by Manny Castro (Manchester, NH) and Brooks Keefe (Marblehead) with three hits each while, Jake Yngber (Miami, FL) Mike Fabiano (Reading) and Thomas Fratto (Reading) recoded two hit each.

In game two Michael Giessler (Peabody) struck out six in four innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits. Eric Bridges (Saugus) finished off the game without allowing a hit and striking out one.

The Knights outhit the Bulldogs nine to two in the second game as Megan, Fabiano and Raymond Rojas (Lawrence) recorded multi-hit games.

NECC again put the game out of reach earlier as they plated six first run innings.

Rojas, Anthony Marino (Lynn) and Luke Martinho (Lynnfield) each recorded extra base hits in the game two victory.

Saturday's scheduled game three of the series has been postponed and weather permitting will be played on Monday at Bunker Hill.
