Knights roll in conference opener, 89-52 over Quinsigamond

Haverhill, MA (November 9, 2021) – The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball cruised to 89-52 victory over the visiting Wyverns of Quinsigamond Community College to open conference play 1-0 for the first time since the 2018-19 season. The Knights improve to 2-2 overall on the young season.

After trailing 1-0 in the opening minute of the game, the Knights never looked back and took a 50-25 lead to the locker room at halftime.

A game high 23 points from freshman Elijah Haas (Haverhill) led four Knights in double figures. Phillip Cunningham (Haverhill) and Daniel Almarante (Lawrence) each tossed in 13 points. Cristian Kinsley (Lawrence) added 12 points on four three-point baskets.

A strong all around defensive effort from the Knights didn't allow any Quinsigamond players to crack double figures.

The Knights return to the court on Thursday afternoon when they remain at home to take on Southern Maine Community College in non-conference action. Tip off is set for 4:00pm at Sport and Fitness Center on the Haverhill campus.
