Haverhill, MA (January 28, 2023) – The number four nationally ranked Northern Essex Community College men's basketball picked up their 17th consecutive win on Saturday afternoon as they defeated visiting Quinsigamond by a 87-63 final. The win pushed the Knights to a 21-1 overall record and remain a perfect 16-0 in Region 21 action.
The Knights led by 15 points at the half as they took a 43-28 lead to the locker room at the break. Edwin SamMbaka (Paris, FR) led the first half offensive as he tallied 10 points as was following closely by Darlin Santiago (Salem, MA) who added nine first half points.
A 16-point second half from Jeremiah Melendez (Lawrence) made him the game's high scorer as he finished with 21 points. Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) added nine points in the second half to finish with 13 points. SamMbaka also finished with 13 points.
The win was NECC's eighth straight win by a margin of 15 points or more.
NECC will return to the court on Thursday February 2nd when they conclude a four game home swing with a 6:00pm tip off against Massasoit Community College.
