Wellesley, MA (February 7, 2023) – The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team handed MassBay Community College their first home loss of the season on Tuesday night as they rolled over the Buccaneers by a 91-58 final. The win was the 20th in a row for the Knights as they improve to 24-1 on the season and 19-0 in conference play.
The Knights jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they opened up and 11-point advantage seven minutes into the contest and took a 54-25 lead to the locker room at halftime.
Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) nearly picked up a double-double at the half as he recorded 14 points and seven assists in the first half and finished the game with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Darlin Santiago (Salem, MA) tossed in 12 points on four of six shooting from behind the three-point line off the bench and was joined in double figures by Mehmet Asik (Ankara, Turkey) and Peter Lopata (Groveland) who had 12 and 11 respectively.
NECC will return to the Sport and Fitness Center on Thursday night when they will play host to Bunker Hill Community College at 6:00pm.
