Haverhill, MA (November 16, 2023) – The #2 nationally ranked Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team defeated Quincy College in an early season match-up of Region 21 unbeatens as the Knights improved to 5-0 and 3-0 in Region 21 play while the Granite fell to 2-1.
With the game tied at 32 going into the halftime break, the Knights outscored Quincy 58-38 in the second stanza but it wasn't until the final six minutes where NECC built up a double digit lead that Quincy couldn't overcome.
Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) recorded his fifth double-double in as many games as he recorded a game high 24 points to go along with 14 rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.
Camill Palacioglu (Tuebingen, Germany) recorded a career high 20 points coming off the bench while Edwin SamMbaka (Paris, FR) added 11 points to give the Knights three double figure scorers.
Kyoya Sasaki (Tokyo, Japan) provided solid minutes off the bench as he had seven points to go along with three steals and four assists.
NECC will hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Worcester to play Quinsigamond Community College at 2:00pm. The Knights will return home on Saturday November 25th at 2:00pm when they host SUNY Adirondack in the opening game of the second annual NECC Turkey Classic.
