Reynoso eclipses 1,000 as #5 Knights take down Massasoit

Haverhill, MA (February 8, 2024) – On his first shot attempt of the game Luis Reynoso (Lawrence) hit a knock down three-pointer as part of his game high 22 points as he became the first men's basketball player to surpass 1,000 career points in a career since Joe Marshall reached the mark in 1999. In the process the Knights picked up a 74-57 victory over the visiting Warriors and improved to 21-1 on the season and 16-0 in Region 21 play.

Northern Essex fell behind by as many as nine points in the first half before staging an early comeback and taking a 34-27 lead in to the locker room at half time that they wouldn't relinquish.

Along with his 22-points Reynoso recorded 15 rebounds for a double-double and filled the stat sheet with six assists, three blocks and three steals.

Joining Reynoso in double figures was Javien Kirmil (Lowell) and Edwin SamMbaka (Paris, FR).

Defensively, Kyoya Sasaki (Tokyo, JP) had six steals and Karl Wolfgang (Douala, CM) added 14 rebounds.

The Knights will return to the court on Saturday when they travel to UConn-Avery Point for a 1:00pm tip-off on the Groton, CT campus.
