#8 Knights storm past #9 Quincy in second half

Haverhill, MA (February 11, 2025) – In a showdown of nationally ranked opponents on Tuesday night, #8 Northern Essex Community College stormed past Quincy College, rallying from an early 14 point second half deficit to secure an 82-69 win over #9 ranked Quincy College. The win was the Knights 45th straight win on their home court and improved their record to 22-2 on the season and 17-1 in conference play. Quincy dropped to 18-3 overall and 18-2 in conference play.

With four games remaining in the regular season, NECC holds a one game lead on Quincy in the loss column, while holding the head to head tie breaker in the conference standings with a two-game season sweep of the Granite.

Tightly contested throughout the game Quincy took a 37-32 lead into the locker room at halftime, and opened the second half on a 9-0 to take 46-32 lead with 17:03 remaining in the game, before NECC stormed back and took a 50-48 they would never relinquish half way through the second half on a pair of free throws from Javien Kirmil (Lowell) who finished with 10 points.

Alejandro Delgado (Haverhill) finished with a team high 18 points off the bench, while grabbing nine rebounds and Ryan Pacy (Salem, NH) added 13 points, including a 360-degree slam in the closing minute to put an exclamation point on the Knights victory.

Karl Wolfgang and Joendy Rosario (Lawrence) each provided solid minutes off the bench scored eight points apiece.

The Knights have four games remaining on the schedule including a pair of home games on the upcoming holiday weekend. NECC will entertain UConn-Avery Point on Saturday and Bunker Hill on Monday. Both games are set to tip at 2:00pm in the second half of women's and men's double headers.
