Richardson’s High Jump highlights track and field at Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet

Haverhill, MA (April 21, 2018) – The men's and women's track and field programs were in action Saturday at Fitchburg State University.

The teams performance was highlighted by the national qualifying high jump performance of Katelyn Richardson (Wilmington, MA) who jumped 1.42 meters in the event. She joins teammate Olivia Mullins (Plaistow, NH) who has previously qualified for the national championship meet in the 1500m being held May 10-12 by Mohawk Valley Community College. 

Mullins clocked a time of 5:41.34 to finish sixth in a field of 19 runners on Saturday. Richardson also ran the 800 and clocked a time of 2:52.34 to place fifth out of nine in the event.

For the men, both Jacob Cole (Newburyport, MA) and Waldy Tejada (Lawrence, MA) competed in the 100m and 200m events. Cole ran times of 12.41 and 25.9 respectively to place 12th and 15th respectively in both events that featured 29 and 28 participants in each event. Tejada clocked in at 13.15 and 26.73 to place 24th and 22nd in the events.

The Knights will head to Yale next weekend in New Haven, CT.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors eight varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track and field.
