Haverhill, MA (November 8, 2025) – The Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team defeated Holyoke Community College by a 88-45 final score on Saturday afternoon to improve their record 8-10 overall and 6-5 in conference play.
The Knights jumped out early on the Cougars leading 22-11 after the first quarter and expanded on the lead taking a 15-point advantage to the locker room at halftime 41-26, and gradually continued to pull away in the second half.
A quartet of Knights all scored in double figures led by Rhaelyn Gutierrez (Methuen) who had a game high 28 points and she was closely followed Mirelys Morlaes (Dracut) with 24 points.
Shanely Henriquez (Haverhill) and Rebecca Heathman (Billerica) both had season high totals of 15 and 12 respectively, while Heathman pulled down 14 rebounds for her 13th double digit rebounding performance of the season.
The Knights will return to the court next Saturday when they play host to UConn Avery Point next Saturday at 12:00pm.
