Torres highlights three All-Region honorees for NECC volleyball

Haverhill, MA (October 28, 2021) - Three members of the Region 21 runner-up Northern Essex Community College women's volleyball team were named to the All-Region teams as selected by the Region 21 volleyball committee.

Dejalee Torres (Lawrence) was selected the region's most outstanding player and earned First Team All Region honors. Joining Torres on the All Region First Team was Kaithlene Perez-Flores (Lowell). Yonelli Batista (Lawrence) was tabbed All Region Second Team.

Torres finished the season as the regional leader in both kills and kills per set 135 and 2.81 respectively. On the defensive side of the net, Torres was third regionally in blocks averaging .29 per set and was fifth regionally with 125 digs.

Perez-Flores was strong on both sides of the net for the Knights and provided consistency throughout the season. She excelled behind the service line averaging nearly one ace per set ranking second in the region, while adding 124 digs on the season.

Batista ranked third regionally with 1.91 kills per set and was second in the region with 140 digs on the defensive aside of the ball.

The Knights finished the season with an 8-8 overall record falling in the championship round of the NJCAA Region 21 post-season tournament to the Community College of Rhode Island.
