NECC Knights Baseball Team Advances to the Finals in the World Series

The Knight's entered the NJCAA Division 3 World Series as a underdog ranked 12th in the country.  They are now sitting at no less then #2.  With a little rest the Knight made the most of 7 hits in 4-3 victory over Rowan Gloucester.

Northern Essex Community College and Rowan Gloucester each put runners in scoring position on Tuesday, but Northern Essex Community College capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 4-3 win.

Rowan Gloucester out-hit Northern Essex Community College nine to seven, but Rowan Gloucester stranded 11 runners on base.

Northern Essex Community College held off Rowan Gloucester, as Rowan Gloucester was unable to overcome a three-run fifth inning deficit.

Rowan Gloucester scored two runs in the sixth on a passed ball and an RBI single by Lang. Despite its efforts, Rowan Gloucester couldn't finish the comeback.

Colby Maiola did his best to jumpstart the offense for Northern Essex Community College, reaching base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He tripled in the second inning scoring on a sacrafice fly by Ellido Reyes.

Northern Essex Community College stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Traverse Briana and an RBI single by Matthew Marquez.

Anthony Dally on 3 days rest started the game and gave the Knight's the start they needed. He pitched 6 innings gave up 3 runs and 8 stirke outs.

NECC “newest closer”  Evan Glew came in on 2 days rest and sealed the deal.  Pitched 3 scoreless innings while giving up only 3 hits with 3 strike outs..

Tomorrow the Knights will take on Tyler TX for the first game in the National championship.  If NECC wins the tournament will go one more day and NECC will have to beat Tyler twice.  If NECC loses tomorrow the World Series will be over and NECC will finsih second in the country.  Either way a terrific season for the Knight's who hope to bring home the trophy.​
