Knights remain unbeaten with shutout of Valporaiso

Haverhill, MA (March 29, 2021) – The Northern Essex Community College esports team remained unbeaten in Overwatch action with a 3-0 victory over Valporaiso. For the week the Knights also picked up a victory in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate over Cedar Rapids by a 4-1 score.

In Overwatch, NECC started with a 2-0 victory on the Lijiang Tower map, before narrowly edging the Crusaders in the Blizzard World map 3-2 and clamiing the shutout with a 2-1 win in the Havana map.

Jason McDonald (FreakyJ) of Georgetown earned Player of the Game honors as he had 45 eliminations on the Blizzard World map. Caroline Shaw (Sgkcarol) of Merrimac providing strong healing support primarily on the third map as she recorded over 13,000 for the match. Dylan Fontaine (HauntedMage) of Haverhill had the most assists in kills, getting over 60% of the participation.

Joshua Silva (jnosh_16) of Amesbury, got back to his winning ways in Super Smash Bros Ultimate picking up the 4-1 over Cedar Rapids.

The Knights fell in Rainbow Six: Siege play as they dropped a 2-0 decision to UC Davis. Jeremy Hernandez (Zara) had 12 kills in the opening map as the Knights dropped the Villa by a score of 8-6. Jason De Leon (Osirus) of Lawrence added six kills to go along with 12 assists for the match.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors 12 varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's soccer, Esports and men's and women's track and field.
