Haverhill, MA (March 24, 2020) – Freshman Scottie Austin (Toronto, ON) of the Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team was named an Honorable Mention All-Region 21 selection following a vote of the men's basketball coaches.
Austin was the offensive leader for the Knights over the course of the 2019-20 season as he averaged 17.6 points per game on 39.3 percent shooting from the field in 24 games played. The points total ranked as 17th best in the 14 team region. He also led the team in rebounds with seven per game.
The Knights concluded the season with a 5-20 record. NECC is looking ahead to the 2020-21 season where Darren Stratton will return to the program as head coach. The Knights will open the season on Friday October 30th at the NHTI Edward Jones Tap-Off Classic.
