New Haven, CT (February 5, 2022) - The Northern Essex Community College men's basketball team picked up a 65-48 win on the road Saturday afternoon over Gateway Community College to run their win streak to nine games dating back to December 9th. With the win the Knights improve to 13-7 overall and 10-2 in conference play.

Mehmet Asik (Ankara, TR) was the games high scorer as he poured in 17 points, 11 of which came in the second half. Asik was joined in double figures by Phillip Cunningham (Haverhill) and Cristian Kinsley (Lawrence) who tossed in 12 and 11 respectively.

NECC held a 30-25 advantage at the half, before building a cushion as the second half went on.

Metin Yavuz (Istanbul, TR) provided a strong two way effort for the Knights and Cunningham added 12 rebounds for a double double. 

The Knights return to the Sport and Fitness on the Haverhill campus Tuesday evening when they will play host to Springfield Technical Community College at 6:00pm. Spectators are asked to follow the college's masking guidelines.
