Haverhill, MA (October 27, 2021) - The NJCAA announced on Wednesday afternoon, that sophomore Ethan Rousseau (Haverhill/Whittier Tech) of the Northern Essex Community College men's soccer team has been named the NJCAA men's soccer player of the week, for the week ending October 24th.

Rousseau had a record breaking week, as he scored three second half goals last Tuesday evening in the Knights 4-3 win over Springfield Technical Community College. The three goal performance was the first hat trick in the modern day era of the men's soccer program and also helped the Knights secure their first post-season appearance.

Rousseau added another goal last Thursday when the Knights suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Roxbury Community College.

Rousseau becomes the second player in the programs history to earn a weekly national award. In the inaugural 2019 season Anthony Belomo, now playing at Stonehill College was named the NJCAA Goalie of the Week.

Rousseau and the Knights will take the pitch on Thursday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Region 21 playoffs as the six seed and travel to third seeded Community College of Rhode Island. The winner will advance to play Roxbury Community College on Saturday.
