NECC Cross Country peaks at the right time for NJCAA Nationals

Westfield, MA (November 2, 2019) - The NECC men's cross country ended their season with a strong showing at Stanley Park on Saturday. The team improved their placement from last year by placing 21st out of the 28 competing teams and having four runners turn in personal best times.

Leading the charge for Northern Essex was Freshman Kyle Manley (Gloucester) coming in at 29th out of the 200 runner field with a personal best time of 28:21 for the 8km course.

Freshman Abdillah Abdoulfatah (Lawrence) turned in an impressive performance to end his first season ever being part of a cross country team by setting a personal best of 31:16, sophomore Emil Rosario (Methuen/Greater Lawrence) turned in a personal best time of 31:43, sophomore Will Thomson (Beverly) turned in a personal best time of 33:24 and coming back from injury was sophomore Jacob Swanney (Plaistow) rounding out the top 5 with a time of 34:03.

Northern Essex Community College competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and sponsors 12 varsity intercollegiate sports including baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, men's soccer, Esports and men's and women's track and field.
