Worcester, MA (November 19, 2023) – The Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team made it two straight wins to open up Region 21 play as they ran past Quinsigamond Community College on Saturday afternoon by a 100-23 final score. The win improves the Knights to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in Region 21 play.
The game was never in doubt as the Knights led 23-6 at the end of the first quarter and 49-10 at halftime.
Emma Ruggiero (Chelmsford) and Mirelys Morales (Dracut) both recorded double-double performances as Ruggerioro had 10 points and 12 rebounds off the bench while Morlaes tossed in 13 points and 12 rebounds of her own.
MyKayla Dingle (Haverhill) was the games high scorer with 25 points as she shot 10 of 21 from the floor.
Briannah Namale (Lowell), Mariah LaSalle (Lawrence) and Kamrynn Pastorello (Billerica) all recorded double digit points as well for the Knights with 17, 16 and 14 each.
The Knights will return to the court next weekend when they play host to Suffolk County (NY) Community College as part of the 2nd annual NECC Turkey Classic featuring six games next Saturday and Sunday at the Sport and Fitness Center on the Haverhill campus.
