Haverhill, MA (February 8, 2024) – A valiant effort from the Northern Essex Community College women's basketball team came up a little short on Thursday evening as they fell by a 60-53 final to Region 21 contender Massasoit. With the loss, the Knights fall to 8-7 overall and 7-3 in Region 21 play.

The Knights trailed by five at the halftime break, 26-21 before taking a brief lead in the opening moments of the fourth quarter.

Mirelys Morales (Dracut) tossed in a team high 17 points and was one of three Knights to score in double figures. She was joined in double figures by McKayla Dingle (Haverhill) with 16 points and Kamrynn Pastorello (Billerica) with 14.

Morales earned a double with 11 rebounds while Janisa Price (Haverhill) also had a strong defensive  game with eight rebounds and four steals.

The Knights will return to the court on Tuesday at 6:00pm when they play host to Great Bay Community College in non-conference action.
